Mr. Michael Wilson is the Clinical Lead for General Surgery at NHS Forth Valley and a Consultant General, Emergency, and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon. He is also a visiting Major Trauma Surgeon at St Mary’s Hospital Major Trauma Centre, London.
A graduate of the University of Glasgow, Dr. Wilson completed his surgical training at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, followed by a fellowship in major trauma at St. Mary’s, London.
Mr. Wilson specializes in minimally invasive surgery, hernia repair, and anti-reflux procedures, leading the regional complex hernia MDT. He is also advancing bariatric surgery integration in the NHS.
As an expert in proctology and rectal health, he utilizes LumenEye® for high-definition rectal diagnostics, offering advanced hemorrhoid treatments, including Rubber Band Ligation, Infrared Coagulation, and Surgical Hemorrhoidectomy.
Mr. Wilson is actively involved in multi-centre surgical research, leading the Sunflower Study and serving as a faculty member for trauma surgical training programs. He holds key positions in BBUGSS, ASGBI, and TUGSS, contributing to education and surgical advancements.
Mr. Wilson serves as a General Surgeon in the Royal Navy Reserves, based at HMS FORWARD. A father of three, he balances his career with a passion for surgical innovation and patient-centered care.
